CLIENT  GRAHAM CONSTRUCTION/NETWORK RAIL

PROJECT TENNISON ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, NORWOOD JUNCTION, LONDON.

DESCRIPTION

We were commissioned by GRAHAM CONSTRUCTION to capture this momentous event in South London.  The installation of the new Tennison Road Bridge near Norwood Junction was a construction industry first. The new 565 tonne bridge was ‘pushed’ horizontally over operational rail lines.  We were there to film and photograph the complete construction process over a 15 month period.

To document this unique event took a great deal of planning. We had up to five crew members on site at any one time filming, photographing and flying drones.  Enabling us to deliver a stunning piece of work which all the major stakeholders were delighted with.

We started documenting this project in April 2014, visiting once a month to photograph its progress. We also attended the major stages of the build to film and fly the drones. Documenting key stages including the demolition of the existing bridge, installation of the temporary footbridge and finally the installation of the new bridge.

Safety was paramount, not just because it was a very busy site but we were working in very close proximity to a live railway tracks. Difficult conditions such as heavy rain and thick mud, and working during the night made this project a real challenge.

“THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST, IF NOT THE BEST TIME LAPSES WE’VE SEEN” Network Rail.

CLIENT   STREAMING TANK/HIGH SNOBIETY/DROPBOX

PROJECT DROPBOX MURAL

Documenting events with time lapse is an original, eye catching way to capture your project on video.  This project for Dropbox was commissioned by Streaming Tank and was shot in Shoreditch, London over five days.  The video was going to be used on social media and featured on the High Snobiety web site.  The brief was to produce a minute long video highlighting the creativity and energy of four graffiti artists painting a mural on a wall.

Four graffiti artists: Jamie Julien Brown, Roids, Walaha and Pref each had a day and a half to create their artwork using a limited palette of colours. Luckily we didn’t have any heavy rain, which would have affected the working conditions for the artists. The project was managed by Grafittilife, a specialist agency representing prominent  artists in this field.  The collective execute projects all over the UK. Read more on the BLOG

CLIENT  VISION MODULAR SYSTEMS AND POCKET LIVING

PROJECT  MOUNTEARL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT, STREATHAM, LONDON

DESCRIPTION

We were commissioned by POCKET to document the complete production and installation process from start to finish.  After visiting the factory we decided that it would be interesting to mount the camera on a fixed rig mounted in the same position on each stage of the production process.  Working inside a busy factory has its challenges, especially than the posts are moving around on rails.

We mounted a camera inside the module during transit to record the journey to site and the lifting procedure, whilst simultaneously filming the lifting from the ground.

“TLVS were the ideal partners to produce our time-lapse films. We gave them complex briefs to showcase our new modular build technique in an innovative way in multiple locations. They went above and beyond to get the footage we wanted and advised every step of the way to ensure that the film was the best it could be. Working in tricky and restrictive conditions, from factory floor to inhospitable sites they were always highly professional, polite and a real pleasure to work with. I could not recommend them more highly!”

From a commercial point of view, and to increase your chances of selling the videos it makes sense to film the most iconic buildings and tourist destinations . But think 'outside the box'. What other possibilities are there?  Photographs and videos portraying 'Business'  have always been big sellers for stock libraries. I chose the Bank of England as a potential subject for these reasons. The economy, BREXIT, mortgages, money, stocks and shares are constantly in the news, and therefore in demand from various media channels.

CLIENT  ACTIVE LUTON

PROJECT DIVING AT INSPIRE

DESCRIPTION

We made this video to promote the world class diving facilities available at Inspire Active Luton.  The brief included interviews with members of the diving club and introductions to the diving coaches Sam and Hayley.  It was great fun to make, the people involved were just amazing to work with.  No doubt the star of the show was Skye, her enthusiasm, energy and smile summed up the diving club.  Working near water does present some challenging filming conditions.  We recently invested in the superb RONIN DJI 3-AXIS STABILIZED HANDHELD GIMBAL SYSTEM or in simpler terms….a camera stabilisation system. We used several time lapse cameras mounted on tripods throughout the shoot. They were located in a variety of locations and ran for varying periods of time.

"Excellent service - particularly good at the creative aspect. If you're stuck for ideas there's no need to worry as they won't be! Very trustworthy and professional”

CLIENT  MARMALADE FILMS

PROJECT PADDINGTON THE MOVIE

DESCRIPTION

It was a late Tuesday afternoon in June and we were busy editing when the phone rang…”Hello, this is Marmalade Films, we would like you to make a time lapse film of London that will feature in the new PADDINGTON MOVIE” ……………..Initially we thought it was a wind up……..it wasn’t and sure enough the next night we were way up high on the east balcony of the Tate Modern setting up our equipment to record a night to day to night time lapse film.

The film crew had literally just finished shooting the very last scene of the film. As they packed away I was quickly briefed by the Director Paul King and Cinematographer Erik Wilson. Utilising the GENIE motion control device we were shooting anti-clockwise from the City to Centrepoint.  The Genie has a video preview facility, enabling me to show the crew the exact movement that would be recorded.  We set up three cameras, one moving, two static.  Once the composition and movements had been approved, the cameras started to record.

The time lapse sequences were used to illustrate Paddingtons’ quest to find the explorer who discovered him in his native Peru.  The scene features the runaway Paddington, scanning the London skyline.  As he does so, Google map pins pop up across the horizon.

CLIENT  CURO

Curo is a not-for-profit housing and support organisation based in Bath, providing affordable homes and high quality care and support services across the West of England. Curo manage nearly 13,000 homes and are building hundreds of new homes every year.

PROJECT MULBERRY PARK TIME LAPSE

THE BRIEF

Curo recognised that the building of hundreds of homes at the Mulberry Park site, and bringing the two communities of Foxhill and Combe Down together needed a modern communication tool, to inform and reassure residents that the housing development was a great opportunity for the local area, and for Bath as a whole. By using video the Housing Association captures the development of the historic Mulberry Park scheme, exciting local residents and stakeholders about the new homes and community facilities being provided.

DELIVERING RESULTS

Since early 2014, Time Lapse Video Solutions has been shooting at the development and have created a series of short films about the regeneration of this brownfield site, from demolition of the former MOD offices, to the building of new homes for local people. The films combined eye-catching time lapse footage with interviews from local residents, councillors and senior leaders at Curo.

REACH AND ENGAGEMENT

Curo’s youtube channel has over 5,000 views from the video produced by Film Infinity since 2015 engaging and communicating key messages about the changes going on at Mulberry Park and how it affects the local community.

CLIENT SATISFACTION

TLVS’s contract has been renewed annually since 2014. TLVS will be making information videos about re-housing existing tenants from their older housing stock into the new housing.

“Working with Chris and Ian to devise the films has been great.  They have brought professionalism and creativity to the process, providing valuable guidance to ensure that we have got the best out of the time lapse footage.  They have also worked hard to put all interviewees at ease, from the chief executive to the local resident. They have delivered video edits and final films promptly, enabling us to upload them quickly to YouTube, our website and social media channels to ensure maximum impact.  We would be happy to recommend TLVS as a supplier.”

CLIENT  STUDIO OUTPUT/BBC DRAMA

PROJECT CREATION OF LUTHER MURAL, SHOREDITCH, LONDON

DESCRIPTION

We received a phone call late Friday afternoon from Laura at STUDIO OUTPUT. Could we shoot a time lapse film on Sunday and Monday, and deliver it by Thursday?  We delivered the film to Laura on Tuesday afternoon!

To publicise the new BBC drama Luther, a team of four graffiti artists from the excellent GRAFFITI LIFE painted a 14 metre mural in New Inn Yard, Shoreditch, East London.

We were there to document the process over the two days utilising Canon DSLR cameras installed with MAGIC LANTERN intervalometer software.

We had one camera positioned to cover the full width of the mural from start to finish.  We moved the second camera at various stages of the painting, recording several key stages of the process in more detail.

"I cannot say enough to thank TLVS for their responsive, professional and dedicated approach to my project. Despite sending the brief to them at late notice they worked quickly to find the best solution  and ensured the process throughout was easy and seamless. Even when the rain was pouring and there were changes of plan, Chris always had a good suggestion, helpful word and never once looked fed up! I had no doubt the final time-lapse would be fantastic and it really was, both us and our end client were delighted. I will definitely be coming back to TLVS again!"

CLIENT  RHYTHMS OF THE WORLD FESTIVAL

PROJECT  RHYTHMS OF THE WORLD FESTIVAL, HITCHIN, HERTFORDSHIRE

DESCRIPTION

We have sponsored the festival for the past four years, each year producing a different promotional film. We shoot over the weekend, and the film is used to promote the festival during the intervening period.  This year we decided to produce a timelapse ‘tour’ film, moving around the whole site in just over two minutes.

We mounted our canon 5D DSLR camera on our new DJI RONIN CAMERA STABILISATION RIG. It is a 3-AXIS stabilised handheld gimbal system with custom sensors, powerful motors and advanced algorithms!  Not sure what all that means but I do know it is the most awesome piece of kit we have ever bought! WE LOVE IT……..and we are sure our clients will too. It raises the bar regarding production values,  as we can now produce the slickest, smoothest camera movements with relative ease.  In this instance we set the camera to shoot time-lapse rather than video. We toured the whole festival site, stopping at key locations to watch the action…and buy ice cream!

One of the highlights of the weekend was the second most awesome piece of equipment we have ever bought. The Time lapse Video Solutions fridge!  It was well stocked with liquid refreshments (Red Stripe) and proved very popular with friends and clients.

“It’s an absolute pleasure working with Time Lapse Video Solutions. Chris and Ian are really in tune with our needs and ‘got’ what we wanted from the start.  They are always extremely accommodating – even when we change the brief time and time again – and are professional to the end.  Thank you!”

CLIENT  RES

PROJECT  RES WADLOW WIND FARM, CAMBRIDGESHIRE

DESCRIPTION

We were commissioned by RES to record the erection of a wind turbine at Wadlow Farm Wind Farm in Cambridgeshire.

Firstly the three 25m tower shafts are erected on top of one another, then the nacelle (gearbox etc) is located on top before the 45m rotor blades are added.

An awesome piece of engineering and a fascinating day watching this construction process. It was a very early start, the cameras started rolling at 6.45 am and finished some 12 hours later. I had a car boot full of sandwiches and several flasks of tea to keep me going. I sat in my deck chair, on a beautiful day watching the wildlife whilst getting quite a nice tan. Don’t get me wrong it was extremely hard work!!

The time lapse condenses 12 hours of real time down to just 3 minutes

CLIENT  COEL

PROJECT  OPTIMAL PAYMENTS FIT-OUT, CAMBRIDGESHIRE

DESCRIPTION

The COEL brief was to record the entire six week fit out from at least two angles, capturing the installation of the walls right through to the delivery and positioning of the furnture.

This particular project required a great deal of planning as the interior of the building was to be divided up into smaller office spaces as the fit out progressed.  Some walls were going to be glass whereas others were solid. This meant it was critical where we placed our cameras.  If we got this wrong it meant we could have a wall appear directly in front of the lens after only a few hours or days of the time lapse starting,  blocking the view of the cameras!!

We could not run our power supply extension cables across the floors due to the on going building works.  This problem was solved by directing them up inside the ceiling void out of harms way.

We sat down with Tony the Site Manager to study the plans and scheduling so we could formulate a plan for our camera positioning and timings.  Week one would involve one camera set-up, week two, two cameras and week three both those cameras being moved to alternative positions to record new angles.  The cameras were firing one frame every sixty seconds, 60 frames an hour, 1440 frames in a day, 10080 a week!!!
